The immune booster program includes a series of unique hydrotherapy treatments called fever therapy. Fever therapy is a supervised treatment where a person reclines in a hot spa bath.  During this time, body temperature rises gradually to a mild fever state and is held there for 40-60 minutes.  Body temperature and pulse are taken regularly.  A fan blowing cool air and cold compresses to the head help to make the treatment more comfortable.  Drinks are given to replace body fluids lost via perspiration.  The bath is then cooled which brings the body temperature back to normal.

How does fever therapy work?

Medical experts now recognise that fever is actually beneficial.  Fever is the body's natural response to a multitude of factors including infection and inflammation.  The aim of fever therapy is to induce a mild fever condition in which the body reacts in a number of ways:

• The number of white blood cells generally increases as well as the rate of their locomotion and activity.
• Chemical substances are released from white blood cells that cause foreign elements and bacteria to be more easily phagocytised by macrophages or leukocytes.
• Interferon levels are increased.
• Blood flushes the skin where macrophages can help purify the blood and add chemicals that make germs easier to be destroyed.
• Removal of wastes from the blood is facilitated via the skin.
• In the case of an abnormal fever, heat conserving mechanisms are reversed and heat dissipating mechanisms are activated.
• Increases anti-necrosis factor.

Other combining remedies:

Special dietary program including juices and supplements.  A diet low in fats alters virus cell membrane permeability thus making it more susceptible to fever therapy.  Monitored exercise program.  Herbal teas.
